Puppy Rescued From DUI Driver's Car, Police Say

The driver was found after she was involved in a hit-and-run, police said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz police said officers removed a puppy from the custody of an intoxicated driver Thursday afternoon.

Officers found and arrested Chelsea Linderman after she was reportedly involved in a hit-and-run at Morrissey Boulevard and Soquel Avenue, police said. They found her puppy in her SUV and turned it over to Santa Cruz County Animal Services.

She was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of drugs.
