Putting Your New Year's Resolutions into Practice

Licensed psychologist and wellness coach to give 4-week wellness series, "Boosting Behavior Change."

It's 2018 and you've made some New Year's resolutions. Resolutions are easy to make, but may not be so easy to carry out!

Kimberly Smith-Martinez, licensed psychologist and wellness coach, teaches a process that enables people to make changes in their lives, and stick with them. She will be giving a free, four-part wellness course starting on Monday, January 22 through Monday, February 12 at the Westside New Leaf Community Market's community classroom.

Week 1: Monday, January 22: Intro to Behavior Change

Join Kimberly Smith-Martinez, licensed psychologist and wellness coach, for the first of a four part series entitled "Boosting Behavior Change." In this first hour long interactive lecture you will learn about the science behind journaling and how this tool can help increase your awareness when it comes to changing behavior. At the end of the hour, you will know how to begin tracking your Mind, Mouth and Muscle.

Week 2: Monday, January 29: Goal Setting

In this week's interactive session you will gain understanding of the importance of being clear on identifying the "Right Whys" when it comes to goal setting. By the end of the hour you will be able to identify about the stage of change you are currently occupy. You will also design your own SMART Goal Plan.

Week 3: Monday, February 5: Boredom Busters

In this week's interactive session you will learn easy steps to cultivate motivation and learn about NSVs.

Week 4: Monday, February 12: Relapse Prevention

In this week's interactive session you will gain understanding of Relapse and learn strategies to help you get back on track when you've slipped off your goal. There will be time during this class session to review any questions from the previous weeks as well as celebrate your success thus far!

Kimberly Smith-Martinez is a licensed psychologist (CA #29082) and certified Wellness Coach, with nearly 20 years’ experience who practices in Santa Cruz. Dr. Kim teaches her clients and attendees of her lectures about psychology, mindfulness and the importance of self-care in managing stress in order to create a vibrant, joyful life.
