Red Flag Warning Extends Into Santa Cruz Mountains
Weather conditions are forecast to be conducive to the spread of wildfire beginning Thursday afternoon.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The Santa Cruz Mountains and East Bay hills are now under a red flag warning, which is set to be in place from 1 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The red flag warning — which indicates wildfire could spread rapidly amid the period of dry, warm, windy weather — previously expired Friday and covered the North Bay Mountains, where the Glass Fire had scorched nearly 57,000 acres as of Thursday morning.
NWS forecast residents could expect 10 to 20 mph wind gusts, with 20 to 30 mph wind gusts possible in higher elevations.
