Report Price Gouging To The Santa Cruz County District Attorney
Price gouging — or raising the cost of goods more than 10 percent under an emergency declaration — is illegal.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — It's illegal to raise the price of foods, goods, rent or critical supplies by more than 10 percent after an emergency proclamation has been issued. The Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office wants the public to report any violations of this law.
Gov. Gavin Newsom and Santa Cruz County have both declared emergencies due to concerns about the new coronavirus.
Anyone who breaks this law could face a year in jail or a $10,000 fine.

Reports of price gouging can be made with the DA's Office at 831-454-2050.
The public may also fill out the Price Gouging Incident Report here and email it to cfep@santacruzcounty.us or mailed to the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office, Consumer Fraud Protection Division, 701 Ocean Street, Room 200, Santa Cruz, Ca 95060.
