I’m excited to welcome author Hunter S. Jones to my blog. Read on and you’ll get some insight into her own “road to publication.” But as she says, “The art form I create when writing is much more interesting than anything you will ever know or learn about me.”
On Hunter’s Writing

Hunter S. Jones: All my life.
LC: Do you write in one particular genre, or explore a variety of stories?

HSJ: My writing is Fiction. Every story has its own tale to tell.
LC: From where do you get your inspiration for your stories?
HSJ: Great question, Linda, but I’m not certain how to answer it. I get something from music, but it’s not the exact lyrics, more the harmonics of that art form. My first book was inspired by a Hendrix song and a quote from Oscar Wilde. September Ends and September Again were inspired by many life events, songs and the characters.
LC: What is your writing process? How much/often do you write?
HSJ: I write something every day.
LC: Do you have writing partners who critique your work before submission? Why do or why don’t you think this is important?
HSJ: September Ends and September Again are written in collaboration with an English poet. For all my work I utilize two main beta readers – one is a reader, the other a writer. I take their critiques – regroup, rewrite then send the next version to an editor that uses a team of readers. Their team reviews the manuscript and sends it back to me. I rewrite again. All in all, my work goes in front of maybe 15 people before it is uploaded to Amazon.
Why is it important? Because I am OCD over misspelled words and grammar gremlins.
Hunter’s Road to Publication
LC: How long have you actively been pursuing publication?
HSJ: How long have I been pursuing publication…forever. It’s been my lifelong dream.
LC: Do you have an agent? If yes, how did you go about finding him/her and what have the benefits been to having an agent?
If not, do you think an agent would be helpful to your writing career/do you plan to seek an agent?
HSJ: Currently, I do not have an agent, but that is the very next thing on my To Do List.
LC: Your new release, September Again, is a follow-up to September Ends. Please tell us a bit about these books.
HSJ: September Ends is contemporary fiction, blending romance, erotic and supernatural elements, bound together by poetry. It reveals the intricate web of passion and desire which entangles Liz Snow, Pete Hendrix and Jack O. Savage. The story is told through Liz Snow’s diary, Jack O. Savage’s poetry, and from letters sent across the Atlantic. Traveling throughout the lushness of a summertime in Tennessee and Georgia, September Ends journeys into the elegance of London’s West End and is finally settled in the countryside of Cornwall, England, a decade later.
September Ends is a story of sin, redemption and salvation through love because love happens when we least expect it.
According to Cherokee beliefs, opportunity will bless you twice.
September Again is the follow up to the hugely popular romance, September Ends. The story is told through poetry and prose, but in a different style than September Ends, the first September Story.
In September Again, we find Liz Snow Savage leaving England. She follows her daughter Zelda Savage back to America. The drama ensues as Liz gets a new start in life and Zelda finds her wings after the tragedy of losing The Poet. Set mainly in Chattanooga, Tennessee the rhythm and romance of life's cycles mesh with the ebb and flow of love to unravel the mystery of Liz's past. September Again further reveals the intricate web of passion and desire which entangle Liz Snow, Pete Hendrix and Jack O. Savage. Will a chance encounter finally reveal the truth?
What act will change the destiny of Liz and Zelda forever?
The story of sin, salvation and redemption continues in Book 2 of the September Stories.
Magic happens when you least expect it.
LC: Have you self-published or gone through a traditional publisher?
If self-published, why did you go that route? Or, why a traditional publisher?
In your view, what are the pros and cons of each?
HSJ: There are pros and cons of both publishing routes. Really, we’re fortunate to be able to self- publish, aren’t we? Self-publishing works for me because I can do what I want to do with my stories. Although, Moon Rose Publishing has included my novella, Magic in Memphis, as part of their A Celtic Tapestry Collection. It really is about what the writer is looking to do with their career.
LC: If you could have any job (besides being a writer), what profession would you choose?
HSJ: I would be a rock star. Hey, you said any job.
LC: That’s what I said, and wouldn’t that be a blast!
What’s up next for Author Hunter S. Jones?
HSJ: Next stop is literally the London Book Fair, April 8-10. I cannot wait to be a part of that! Thank you for asking.
SEPTEMBER AGAIN is set to launch on Amazon Kindle, Tuesday, April 15th. It will be available for only 99 cents.
There are a few things cooking after that, but I can’t share them yet. As they say in the UK…watch this space.
LC: Anything you’d like to add or that we should know about you?
HSJ: Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read and review my work. I love you all.
LC: And thank you, Hunter, for giving us an insight into your writing and your road to publication. Best of luck!
