Parkland Fire Hits 1,800 Acres In Monterey Co.
The fire was first reported Saturday evening. Containment expected today.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA – UPDATE: MONDAY, JULY 10, 4:50 a.m.
A wildfire that started Saturday evening in unincorporated Monterey County grew by about 300 acres Sunday and was 60 percent contained by the evening, Cal Fire officials said.
As of 6:19 p.m. Sunday, the Parkfield Fire was holding at 1,816 acres and full containment is expected by this morning.

SUNDAY, JULY 9, 3 p.m.
Cal Fire crews are battling a large 1,500-acre fire that sprung up in Monterey County Saturday evening, a spokeswoman for the agency said today.
Dubbed the "Parkfield Fire" because it is near that unincorporated community in Monterey County, the fire was first reported around 6:20 p.m.
Firefighters halted the fire's forward movement late Saturday night, according to Lynnette Round of Cal Fire. It is now about 30 percent contained, she said.
