For Sale: Beautiful, Solid Maple Hutch
Enjoy this unusual, turn-of-the-Century "bakers cabinet with possum belly drawer," hand-crafted in New England-for kitchen or dining room.
This charming Bakers Cabinet with possum belly drawer (where the bread dough was put to rise), was hand-crafted in New England around 1900. The maker’s name is stamped on the back of one of the drawers but is not fully legible. It is solid maple and has a warm, honey-colored patina. It is well made and very functional: all of the drawers slide easily and the doors work well. The main surface has some slight blemishes, which is not surprising given its age.
It is a very practical piece of furniture for the kitchen or dining room and provides a lot of storage. It can be used as a hutch or cupboard. The glass doors in the top section are nice in that you have the option of using those shelves to display items
It is in two parts which makes it easy to move. The bottom is 46" long, 25" deep, 30" high. The top part is 45" long, 10" deep, and 33.5" high.
