Santa Cruz Community Invited To Trail Virtual Open House

The open house discusses a project that includes a 2.2-mile bicycle and pedestrian trail.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The City of Santa Cruz and the County of Santa Cruz are encouraging the public to attend a virtual open house regarding an upcoming trail segment project.

Coastal Rail Trail Segments 8 and 9 Virtual Open House is March 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Public discussion is encouraged regarding the 2.2-mile bicycle and pedestrian system project, which will be along the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line corridor from Beach Street and Pacific Avenue to the east side of 17th Avenue, the city said.

The open house will include a general overview of where the plans currently stand as well as time for questions, concerns and feedback from the community.

According to the city, the Coastal Rail Trail Segments 8 and 9 project is designed to be 12 to 16 feet wide. Segment 8 includes an on-street bicycle system as well as pedestrian sidewalk improvements. Segment 9 is a multi-use bicycle and pedestrian trail.

The city said the goal of the project is to increase the number of people biking and walking, to improve the safety and mobility of non-motorized users and provide high-quality connections to schools, parks and community facilities.
