Santa Cruz County Homeless Memorial
The event on December 19 will feature a ceremonial reading of the names of more than 65 persons who died in the past year.

From County of Santa Cruz: The Homeless Services Center, the Santa Cruz County Homeless Persons Health Project and Encompass Community Services' River Street Shelter invite members of the public and local media to the 19th annual Homeless Memorial, honoring members of the local homeless community who have passed over the last year.
The event is being held in conjunction with Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, an annual nationwide event celebrated in over 150 U.S. cities at the onset of winter. The event will feature a ceremonial reading of the names of more than 65 persons, homeless and formerly homeless, who died in the past year, as well as an annual report summarizing the details of who died in our community and the causes of their death.
Family, friends and community service providers are invited to speak in memory of those who have died. The event will be held in the cafeteria at the Homeless Services Center, emphasizing the need to work towards ending chronic homelessness.
