On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors will honor two
retiring staff members serving in key leadership positions.

County Counsel Dana McRae is retiring after 22 years of service to the residents of Santa
Cruz County, including 18 in her current position. McRae is renowned in the local
community for her leadership, service and dedication, having provided wise counsel to
the Board of Supervisors, as well as guiding the County through the establishment of
numerous local ordinances that became models for statewide change and litigation
seeking to positively impact the lives of all residents, both in Santa Cruz County and
beyond.

Human Services Director Ellen Timberlake is retiring after 25 years of service to the
residents of Santa Cruz County, including three in her current position. Timberlake is a
passionate statewide leader on issues impacting the most vulnerable residents, with
one-third of County residents receiving services through the Human Services
Department. Among her many accomplishments is reworking community program
funding to be more evidence-based, implementation of the Thrive by Three program
and more.
