Santa Cruz County Housing Advisory Commission Meeting This Week
A meeting will be held to hear ideas for near-term solutions to County's housing crisis.

From the County of Santa Cruz: The Santa Cruz County Housing Advisory Commission (HAC), acting under direction from the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors, will hold a special meeting May 2 to hear ideas for near-term solutions to County's housing crisis.
With Santa Cruz County median home prices approaching $1 million, many low- and middle income
families, including long-time residents and local employees, are being priced out. Recently, the Board updated the County's Affordable Housing Impact Fee to create more revenues for affordable housing, and directed the Commission to meet to discuss the County's density bonus provisions and other regulatory measures that could lower barriers to affordable housing.
"The Housing Advisory Commission recognizes that local families and residents are being squeezed by the high cost of housing in Santa Cruz County," HAC Chair J.M. Brown said. "There is consensus around the need for action. We hope this meeting will help bring focus to which actions will be the most meaningful for our residents."
