Santa Cruz County Police Pursuit Ends At Jailhouse
A San Jose man suspected of DUI had a brief commute to the Santa Cruz County jail after he was arrested in front of the facility.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A San Jose man was arrested steps away from the Santa Cruz County jail after a Saturday afternoon police pursuit.
The pursuit began in Santa Clara County. The Santa Cruz California Highway Patrol office was notified around 3 p.m. by San Jose CHP officers that his Toyota Prius was headed across the county line, CHP said in a statement.
Local CHP officers took over the pursuit on southbound Highway 17 at Mt. Hermon Road and continued to follow him into the city of Santa Cruz, with help from the Santa Cruz Police Department, CHP said.

Officers disabled the car and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence and other felonies in front of the Santa Cruz County Jail.
Photos indicate his Prius jumped a curb along Ocean Street and crashed into a pole, with its bumper dangling from the passenger side of the vehicle. The courthouse could be seen in the background.
