Santa Cruz Dad Arrested for Suspected Willful Cruelty to Child

Santa Cruz Police detectives arrested Randy Lewthwaite, 33, Thursday at his home in Santa Cruz for suspicion of willful cruelty to a child.

The child’s mother reported an injury on the child’s face, which occurred when the child was with the father, Lewthwaite, police said.

Child Protective Services and officers investigated with a visit to the home and reported ”significant bruising” on the child, police said.

Police said Lewthwaite also had an active warrant for his arrest out of San Mateo County and is on active probation in Santa Cruz County. Lewthwaite was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
