Santa Cruz Firefighters Stepped In To Fight Gilroy Crews Fire

Firefighters from across Santa Cruz County are coming home after battling the 5,500-acre Crews Fire north of Gilroy.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz firefighters were among the 500 people who stepped up this week the battle the Crews Fire near Gilroy.

The Crews Fire was 90 percent contained and had burned more than 5,500 acres as of Friday, according to Cal Fire. The fire began Sunday and has burned one structure.

Crews from Aptos/La Selva Fire District, Santa Cruz Fire Department, Scotts Valley Fire Department and the Central Fire Protection District of Santa Cruz County also aided in the firefight.
