INFORMATION
The Santa Cruz Police Department is actively investigating a homicide which occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 1:14pm.
The victim is a 28 year-old male, Santa Cruz County resident. Initially members of the Santa Cruz Police department were dispatched to a victim of a shooting on Mission St, north of Swift St. When officers and medics arrived they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle. Medics worked on the victim and transported him to Dominican Hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.
Parts of Mission St were closed and traffic diverted as investigators processed the area. Further investigation determined the shooting actually occurred at the intersection of Mission St and Fair Ave.
The victim is not being identified until his relatives are notified by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff Coroner.
