Santa Cruz Man Killed In Highway 1 Crash

The crash happened in Aptos. The driver who hit the pedestrian is cooperating with police.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Authorities identified a 28-year-old Santa Cruz man killed after he was hit by a car last week on Highway 1 in Aptos.

Yosef Cohen was in southbound lanes of traffic near Freedom Boulevard about 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 27, when he was hit by a Honda CRV, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Emergency personnel gave Cohen medical aid, but he died at the scene, the CHP said.

The driver of the Honda, a 56-year-old woman from Aptos, was not injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs are a factored in the crash.
