Santa Cruz Polar Plunge Registration Open

Take a dip in the frosty waters of Rio Del Mar Beach to raise money for Special Olympics Northern California.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Feeling brave? Jump into the ocean in March in the early morning-level brave?

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff-Coroner is hosting its annual Polar Plunge, which is raising money to support sports training and competition opportunities for more than 21,200 Special Olympics athletes. The event aims to not only raise funding for athletes, but encourage inclusion for athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities.

The event will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12 at Rio Del Mar Beach. The event will begin with pre-plunge games, then a breakfast, then costume judging and awards (costumes are encouraged, but not required.) The plunge will take place at noon.

Click here to register. Each participant must contribute a minimum of $50 to plunge, and $125, to plunge and get a t-shirt and lunch.
