Santa Cruz Police Investigate Parking Lot Stabbing

The victim is in stable condition, but police were not immediately able to determine a motive.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz police investigated a stabbing over the weekend that followed a parking lot fight, police said.

Michelle Antonio-Moreno, 19, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from the Santa Cruz Police Department.

Officers were first called to a public parking lot at 100 Front St. around 6 p.m. Friday after receiving a call of a physical altercation between a man and woman. Police arrived to find that George Mario Castellanos, 46, was stabbed. Officers in the area apprehended and arrested Antonio-Moreno, police said.

Castellanos was taken to San Jose's Valley Medical Center and was in stable condition as of Saturday. Antonio-Moreno was treated at Dominican Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Neither Castellanos nor Antonio-Moreno cooperated with the police investigation, but evidence at the scene and witness statements led police to arrest Antonio-Moreno.
