SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Santa Cruz Police Department is inviting the community to spend some time walking their streets with cops to show them what's going on in local neighborhoods. The "Walk the Block" program is part of "Operation City Strides" and it focuses on two goals: 1. Show police the public safety challenges in your neighborhood, and 2. Discuss policing strategies along with crime prevention.

On select days and times in June, July, and August, Santa Cruz Police Chief Andrew Mills and police officers will join residents and community groups as they walk specific areas of the city in neighborhoods and business centers. Community members determine the locations and how much ground they want to cover on the walking patrol anywhere in the City of Santa Cruz. Book your SCPD City Strides "Walk the Block" experience.

"I'm asking any vested Santa Cruz resident to find the time to show us what you see," Mills said. "Walk the Block patrols are the next step to understand and address those neighborhood quality-of-life issues.”
