The Santa Cruz Police Department is pleased to report that during the 24 hour period of July 4th (0001-2359 hrs) the city had no reported major acts of violence or crime. During this 24 hour period, Officers responded to approximately 300 calls for service, made 10 arrests and issued 6 citations. Most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct.

Estimated beach crowds at their peak were around 5,000, which was far less than year’s past. Officers maintained a visible presence early on and into the evening, which contributed to a safe and successful holiday.
