Santa Cruz Police Release 2018 Crime Stats
Officials said the overall crime rate is down.
From Santa Cruz PD: The Santa Cruz Police Department releases the 2018 Uniform Crime Report (UCR) for the City of Santa Cruz. The year-end statistics reflect a 5% decrease in overall crime based on FBI Part I reported offenses. The UCR data is a nationwide effort to create uniform crime statistics. The Crime Rate Index* is a measurement based on an estimated 66,454 population in the city of Santa Cruz.
In 2018, the City experienced reductions in violent and property crimes, aggravated assaults and arson increased.
