Santa Cruz Police Seek Surveillance Video of Shooting

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night in Santa Cruz where vehicles were heard speeding in a neighborhood before the gunfire.
Officers responded to a report of gunshots fired in the 200 block of Glover Street just north of Mission Street shortly after 9 p.m., police said.
Officers talked to witnesses who heard numerous shots and a light-colored sedan and dark-colored SUV speed in the neighborhood, according to police.

The sedan was following the SUV on Averitt Street and drove into a dead end at the intersection with Glover Street before the shots were heard, police said.
After the shooting, the vehicles left in opposite directions, according to police.

Detectives found a parked car hit by a bullet and other evidence at the scene, police said.
Investigators are looking for any video footage that captured the shooting and determining whether the case is gang-related, according to police.
