Santa Cruz Police Warn Of Porch Pirates
Package thieves often strike during the holiday season. Here's how you can prepare, according to Santa Cruz police.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz police are warning the public to keep an eye out for thieves this holiday season.
People may roam the streets looking for packages or unlocked cars, police said.
Santa Cruz police offered some tips on protecting yourself from theft:

- Sign up for delivery alerts from USPS, UPS and FedEx
- Schedule delivery dates
- Use in-store pickup options
- Ask neighbors or friends to grab your packages
- Lock your car and roll up your windows
- Don't leave any items in your car — especially if they are in sight
Police remind the public that emergencies can be reported by calling 911 and non-emergencies can be reported at 831-471-1131. Reports can also be filed online here.
