Santa Cruz Shooting: Teen Arrested; 1 Hospitalized
The gunfire in Santa Cruz was logged Wednesday afternoon, law enforcement said.
SANTA CRUZ, CA – An argument between drivers at an intersection Wednesday in Santa Cruz landed one person in the hospital with a gunshot wound and a 16-year-old arrested, according to police.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at River and Fern streets. Investigators determined a dispute between motorists led to a shot fired, striking the car door of a vehicle, piercing the door and striking a female passenger in the leg, the Santa Cruz Police Department said.
The victim was treated for the non-life-threatening injury at a local hospital, officials said.

"The incident appears to have stemmed from an argument between the occupants of both vehicles while they were driving towards the intersection," police said.
Police said reports that a vehicle involved was a blue Toyota Prius, and Santa Cruz Police Sgt. Scott Garner said officers located the car and conducted a traffic stop.

Investigators booked into juvenile hall a 16-year-old arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm at a moving vehicle and a minor in possession of a firearm, police said.
Jourdon Ware, a passenger in the suspect's vehicle, was arrested for an outstanding warrant unrelated to the
case, the department said.
