Santa Mail Accepted At Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — There's a mailbox in the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office lobby — with express shipping to the North Pole.

"We invite our young community members or those who are young at heart to mail a letter to Santa," the sheriff's office said.

Even Sheriff Jim Hart mailed out a note this week. "Dear Santa, I hope I'm on your nice list this year ..."

His wishlist? A safe community, a new jail and a DNA lab.

For those wanting to mail a Santa letter of their own, remember the jolly man is a busy fellow this time of year. Letters must be dropped off by Dec. 20 and they must have a valid return address so he can write back.

The box is inside the sheriff's headquarters at 5200 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
