SEE: DUI Arrest Follows Multiple Crashes, Hit-And-Run, CHP Says

A video of the Aptos incident shows his car hit a guardrail, crashed into a tree and eventually rolled over after a collision.

APTOS, CA — An Aptos man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday evening after a fellow driver filmed his car crashing into several objects before rolling over, officials said.

Antonio Ayala, 46, did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt, the California Highway Patrol said. He was not injured in the crashes.

Ayala was involved in a hit-and-run crash with a parked pickup truck and the Deer Park Shopping Center before heading out onto the streets and crashing into several stationary objects, CHP said in a statement.

CHP posted a video captured by a fellow driver to its Facebook page and identified Ayala as the driver of the 1999 Honda Accord pictured in the video.

The video shows a man swerving on a two-lane road in the Aptos area and crashing into a guardrail, which caused his tire to blow out. He continues to drive unsteadily before hitting an embankment on the right side of the road, making a left turn and driving into another embankment on the right side of the road.

He apparently overcorrects while trying to get off of the embankment and crashes into a tree on the left side of the road, video shows. As he tries to get off of that embankment, he veers back toward the right side of the road and crashes into another object, which causes his car to roll over, driver's side against the asphalt.

The man filming the video gets out of his car to check on the man, who is apparently trying to climb out of his vehicle.

"Are you a cop?" the driver asked.

Ayala was arrested on Townsend Drive at Rio Del Mar Boulevard, CHP said.

His DUI arrest was one of 12 CHP's Santa Cruz branch reported from Friday through early Monday morning, including another rollover crash on Highway 17 later Saturday night.
