Sheriff's Office Finds Device Resembling Pipe Bomb Not A Threat
A non-explosive device that initially appeared to be a pipe bomb was found when deputies responded to help someone in crisis.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Sheriff's Office determined Thursday afternoon that a device resembling a pipe bomb was not an explosive device.
Deputies were called in to help a person in crisis and conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Soquel Avenue, the sheriff's office said. They found a device that looked like a pipe bomb in their car.
The area was evacuated and road blocked off as the bomb team was called in to investigate, the sheriff's office said. The Santa Cruz Police Department was also on scene.

The device was determined to be safe and the driver received health services.
