Shooting Reported In Santa Cruz This Weekend

A black sedan with black rims and tinted windows fled the scene, the Santa Cruz Police Department said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Santa Cruz Police Department reported a shooting late Friday night near Walnut Avenue and Lincoln Street. Police said officers arrived a minute later, around 10:50 p.m. and found two 9 mm casings but no witnesses or victims.

Witnesses said they heard people argue and two gunshots, and saw a black sedan with tinted windows and black rims drive off. There were no gunshot-related injures at local hospitals, police said.

Just 15 minutes before the report of shots fired, an SCPD officer responded to San Lorenzo Boulevard and Riverside Avenue after witnesses said a pedestrian was intentionally running into traffic, police said. The pedestrian was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

That same night, police arrested a driver on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue and arrested someone for public intoxication after a fight at the Holiday Inn Express. An alarm was pulled after the fight, police said.
