SJSU Football Team Holds Practice In Santa Cruz-Area: Report
The Spartans are barred from playing or practicing in Santa Clara County under tough new COVID-19 restrictions.
SAN JOSE, CA – With the playing circumstances of their season for the ages shrouded in uncertainty, San Jose State’s football team found a way to make the best of things Tuesday.
The Spartans have yet to publicly confirm a site for their next two home games and are barred from practicing in Santa Clara County under tough new coronavirus restrictions.
But they found a way to get some practice in Tuesday, busing to a Santa Cruz-area high school, Associated Press Sports Reporter Janie McCauley wrote on Twitter.

“The San Jose State football team got creative to find a way to get work done, busing to practice at a high school field today outside Santa Clara County near Santa Cruz,” McCauley wrote.
SJSU, unbeaten through its first four games for the first time since 1955, is scheduled to play at “home” against Hawaii on Saturday and Nevada on Dec. 11.

The Spartans haven’t played since Nov. 14, when they beat UNLV 34-17. Their last two games against Fresno State and Boise State were cancelled due to coronavirus outbreaks.
They aren’t the only ones who’ve been left to scramble after a ban on all contact sports in Santa Clara County through Dec. 21 was announced Saturday.
The San Francisco 49ers announced in a statement Monday that they’ll play their next two “home” games against the Buffalo Bills Dec. 7 and the Washington Football Team Dec. 11 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Stanford traveled to Seattle Tuesday and will spend the next two weeks in the Pacific Northwest. The Cardinal is scheduled to play Washington on Saturday and Oregon State Dec. 12.
