Skateboarding Legend Tony Alva Appearing At Santa Cruz Film Fest
This latest film is another in a long line of editorial, documentaries and fictionalized flicks about the skateboarding icon.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — The 17th Santa Cruz Film Festival comes to town this week, and legendary skateboarding pioneer Tony Alva will be at screenings of a documentary about his life.
The festival runs Oct. 8-13, and screenings of "The Tony Alva Story" presented by Vans are scheduled opening night at the Del Mar Theater, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m., and again on Oct. 9, 12 p.m., at the Colligan Theater.
At 62-years-old, Alva is considered the oldest professional skateboarder in the world. This latest film is another in a long line of editorial, documentaries and fictionalized flicks about the icon.

"The Tony Alva Story" chronicles his skate beginnings in the 1970s on Santa Monica streets, his stratospheric rise to superstardom as part of the legendary Z-Boys, his drug-induced implosion and his ultimate rise from the ashes.
