SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A man who was causing disturbances in several Aptos backyards in the pre-dawn hours Wednesday was under the influence of drugs, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

The incidents occurred along Santa Marguarita Drive. When deputies arrived on scene, they found Derrick Brown in a backyard "sweating profusely from drug use," according to the sheriff's office.

It didn't appear that Brown took any property from the backyards, but he was placed under arrest for being under the influence of drugs and outstanding warrants for various offenses, the sheriff's office reported.
