Teen Crashes Mom's SUV Into Hair Salon

Wrong time to adjust the radio.

A teenager accidentally crashed his mother’s SUV into a hair salon in unincorporated Santa Cruz County east of Santa Cruz this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

After the woman parked her Toyota 4Runner at 4624 Soquel Drive, exited the vehicle and went into a Mexican grocery store, her 14-year-old son accidentally bumped the car into gear while attempting to adjust the radio,
according to CHP Officer Brad Sadek.

The car rolled back into the roadway, turned to the right, rolled onto a curb and crashed through the window of the Lucious and Duke hair salon at 4635 Soquel Drive, according to Sadek.

No injuries were reported, but the westbound lanes of Soquel Drive were closed for roughly 30 minutes.
