UCSC Fraternity Adopts Scott Creek County Beach
Members of the public or community organizations are welcome to adopt beaches and parks in Santa Cruz County. Interested?

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA – Care and maintenance of Scott Creek County Beach in the Davenport area now will be handled by a fraternity from UC Santa Cruz.
The Santa Cruz County Department of Parks, Open Space and Cultural Services announced this week that Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity adopted the beach, having previously volunteered to shovel and remove sand from the disability-access ramp and ADA-accessible viewing platform.
"After making tremendous headway on the project, members saw the need for regular upkeep," county officials said. "One of Tau Kappa Epsilon's goals is to provide unique and relevant service projects in the greater Santa Cruz area, and the County is delighted it has chosen Scott Creek County Beach as
one of its projects."

On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the fraternity will be at Scott Creek County Beach to conduct such maintenance tasks as keeping the ramp and platform accessible; graffiti abatement; removing invasive ice plant from the dunes; trash pick-up; and overall stewardship, officials said.
“The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity will be invaluable partner in maintaining one of our beautiful public assets. These are exactly the kind of community collaborations we will be looking for as highlighted by our recently released Draft Strategic Plan," parks director Jeff Gaffney said. "We thank them for their service, and encourage all members of the community to pitch in to help maintain Santa Cruz County's parks and open spaces."
