Union Street Sewer Replacement Project To Begin In Santa Cruz On November 30

Drivers should be prepared for delays and mindful of sharing the road with other vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The City of Santa Cruz is scheduled to begin the Union Street Sewer Replacement Project on Monday, Nov. 30. This project will install a new sanitary sewer pipeline between the 300 block of Union Street and Chestnut Street Extension and is expected to be completed by Dec. 17.

The project will replace 75 feet of sewer line and one manhole. Construction hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Street parking on the 300 block of Union Street will be limited during the construction period. The southbound shoulder and bike lane of Chestnut Street Extension will be closed during construction. There will also be minor parking and traffic impacts on Locust Street and Pine Place. The alley between Locust and Union streets will remain open northbound the majority of the construction time to provide access to the Mission/Union traffic signal.
