Why Go: The human figure is the theme at this annual event. Twenty well known local artists will present their sculptures and paintings in a striking display of figurative pieces. Painters include Santa Cruz County 2013 Artist of the year Susana Arias along with sculptors Carol Bowie, Robert Bitzer, Lisa Silas, and Lila Klapman.

Why Go: This discreet trail is well covered in lush ferns, a stream, and scenic cliff formations. Docent Doreen Devorah leads this three-hour, four-mile hike and all ages are welcome. Pack your own lunch and bring water. Rain cancels.

Why Go: Don't miss an opportunity to meet Bellarose the horse. Learn how early settlers, lumber and tanning industries, and Spanish explorers used horses and how they were an important part of early Big Basin history. Docents Peggy O'Shea and Maura McNamara lead the fun.
