James McDermott is the owner of Staircase Tattoo & Piercing. He has been tattooing since 1985 and opened the doors of Staircase in 1992.

There is also a second location for tattooing only at 52 Front street. Staircase Tattoo & Piercing is located at 628 Ocean street. Both studios are in beautiful Santa Cruz.
