Wanted Man Arrested In Santa Cruz, Found With Heroin

Michael Sweatt was booked into Santa Cruz Main Jail on suspicion of possession of heroin for sale and a felony probation violation.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant has been taken into custody after being found with 10 small baggies of heroin in his possession, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.

Michael Sweatt, 54, was arrested early Thursday afternoon near the Santa Cruz Metro Center in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue. During the confrontation with police, Sweatt tried to toss the 10 baggies of heroin onto the sidewalk, according to the SCPD.

Police said Sweatt is a transient. He was booked into Santa Cruz Main Jail on suspicion of possession of heroin for sale and a felony probation violation, according to the SCPD.
