Warriors Fall to Jam

Three NBA assignment players too much for Santa Cruz to overcome


The Santa Cruz Warriors (8-4) fell to the Bakersfield Jam (5-8) on the road, 123-108.  Nemanja Nedovic, on assignment from Golden State, scored 29 points in the loss while Dewayne Dedmon provided a solid effort with 18 points and 14 rebounds, his seventh consecutive double-double for the Sea Dubs.  Kevin Kotzur also scored a career high 24 points.

The Jam had three NBA players on assignment including Jared Cunnigham (Atlanta Hawks), Ian Clark and Ryan Gobert (both from Utah Jazz).  Cunningham led the Jam with 30 points while dishing out 8 assists.  Clark scored 10 points while Gobert had a double-double, scoring 10 points to go along with 11 rebounds, a team high.

There were 13 lead changes through the third quarter until the Jam finished with a 16-6 run to never trail in the game again.  The Warriors came back midway through the fourth quarter tying the game at 77 with 6:36 remaining.  The Jam's assignment players responded however scored 8 straight points and never looked back.

The Jam shot 59 percent from the field, a new franchise record for an opponent against Santa Cruz.  The Warriors shot 45 percent respectively. 

The Warriors return home Sunday to take on the West Division leading Idaho Stampede and top D-League prospect Pierre Jackson, who's currently averaging over 30 points a game.  Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m.
