Watsonville Man Allegedly Under Influence of Narcotics Leads Deputies On Chase
The pursuit began when law enforcement attempted a traffic stop.

A 19-year-old man suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance while driving was arrested after a pursuit in Royal Oaks early Friday morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
Watsonville resident Omar Rios-Gonzalez allegedly fled from deputies who attempted to make a traffic stop on his car in the area of the first block of Live Oak Road around 1:50 a.m., sheriff’s officials said.
The deputies pursued him as he allegedly drove into opposite lanes of traffic, according to sheriff’s officials.

Once he stopped the car on a rural dirt road, four males stepped out and fled on foot, sheriff’s officials said.
Rios-Gonzalez and one of his passengers were found and taken into custody, according to sheriff’s officials.
