Woman Attacked In Broad Daylight On Santa Cruz Street: PD

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Santa Cruz Police Department is asking the community to help find the attacker who punched a woman in the face at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Birch Lane. The April 27 afternoon attack was caught on video surveillance and shows the suspect walking up behind the victim, tapping her shoulder and, as she turns toward him, striking her in the face while calling her a derogatory name.
The suspect fled the area and was last seen running down Birch Avenue. The victim sustained an injury to her nose and forehead, and was transported to a hospital by family members, according to police. The suspect is described as a white male, with short, buzzed style hair, wearing a black shirt and shorts.
The Santa Cruz Police Department is asking anyone who may have information about the incident, which occurred around 2:45 p.m., to call its investigations section at (831) 420-5820.
