Pinned Under Car, Woman Left To Die On Santa Cruz Street

SANTA CRUZ, CA, — A hit-and-run crash Wednesday that left a critically injured woman pinned beneath a vehicle on a Santa Cruz street is under investigation and police are looking for witnesses. Santa Cruz police and firefighters were called to the crash scene in the area of Cedar and Maple streets shortly after 7 p.m. and found the seriously injured female pedestrian stuck under the vehicle, according to police. After freeing her, first responders transported her to a nearby trauma center where she remains in critical condition.

Witnesses provided a suspect description to Santa Cruz police officers, and they immediately began searching the area for the suspect who fled the scene. A suspect was seen jumping neighborhood fences, in an attempt to flee, according to police.

During the investigation, two Hispanic males were detained by officers, and one them was the registered owner of the crash vehicle, police said.
