Woman Survives Potentially Deadly Santa Cruz Cliff Fall: WATCH

A drone captured the terrifying incident, and the sheriff's office is using it as a teachable moment to show the instability of cliffs.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A young woman in Santa Cruz is lucky to have survived a potentially deadly fall from a Santa Cruz beach cliff earlier this month, officials said. On Sept. 15, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office shared drone video of the dramatic fall via social media to help educate the community about the danger of the beautiful but perilous cliffs along the California coastline.

Officials said the woman, who was climbing with friends at the time, was not seriously injured and wanted to share her story to help prevent others from potential falls, injuries or worse.

Amazingly, an amateur drone photographer, who happened to be filming in the area at the time, captured the accident and shared it with law enforcement.
