Woman Suspected Of Setting Trash Can Fires In Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A 34-year-old woman who allegedly set fires in garbage cans across Santa Cruz was arrested Friday on suspicion of arson.
Nataliya Zubrilina was taken into custody after Santa Cruz police responded to small fires being set between the hours of 12:55 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Friday. During that time, five garbage cans were set ablaze between Ocean and Church streets, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.
During the investigation, witnesses saw a female — later identified as Zubrilina — setting a garbage can fire in the area of Church Street and Commerce Lane, according to police. Officers caught up with Zubrilina, who admitted to setting the other fires, police said.

Zubrilina was booked into county jail on suspicion of arson and an outstanding warrant.
