Is Your Mobile Home Registered Correctly?
The state will visit Santa Cruz County to help mobile homeowners ensure their home is correctly registered.
From Santa Cruz County: Supervisor Zach Friend is pleased to announce a special one-time field office visit by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) to assist mobile home and manufactured homeowners assure their homes are properly titled and registered. Every mobile home and manufactured home owner needs to make sure their home is registered correctly, in their name, with the State. If the registration is wrong, late registration fees may be due, though fees may be waived. Proper titles and registration makes it easier for homeowners to make modifications and repairs, obtain insurance, apply for energy-efficiency programs, and sell or refinance their homes.
“Mobile and manufactured homes are a path to affordable homeownership for many Santa Cruz County residents,” Friend said. “I want to make it easier for owners to not only make sure their property is cared for, but also to eliminate any obstacles once it comes time to sell their property.” To be held February 21 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Twin Lakes Church in Aptos, the office hours include scheduled appointments and walk-ins. For questions or to schedule an appointment, call 1-800-952-8356. Se habla español. HCD, which administers the registration and titling program for mobile homes, is offering a temporary fee-and-tax waiver program for those who have never applied for registration and do not have a certificate of title. Representatives will be available to help residents register for the program. “The HCD fee waiver program has saved homeowners over $2 million, enabled people to keep their home in a mobile home park, and let mobile home owners prove ownership to lenders, insurance agents and others,” sand Henry Cleveland, 2nd District representative for the Santa Cruz County Mobile and Manufactured Home Commission.
