Your New BFF Is Half-Price In December At Santa Cruz Shelter

Adoptions of dogs, cats, puppies, kitties and bunnies at Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter are at reduced rate all month.

SANTA CRUZ, CA – If your household is in need of a new, furry family member, the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is offering a half-price adoption special for pets through the month of December.

The shelter, at present, is overloaded with critters needing forever homes. To open up space and encourage animal adoptions, all dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and rabbits will be half-price until the end of the month.

"Many have already lived with a human family and have the basic training, socialization and
cooperative skills they need to become part of your household," shelter officials said, adding that, "Many, but not all, of shelter animals have the advantage of being mixed-breed animals that use what geneticists call 'hybrid vigor' to avoid some of the health issues of purebred animals."
