1 Injured After Narrowly Escaping Santa Monica Hotel Fire
A fire ravaged a motel in Santa Monica over the weekend and hospitalized one person after they suffered burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A fire at a single-story motel in Santa Monica over the weekend left one person injured after officials said they narrowly escaped the flames.
On Saturday at around 12:40 p.m., fire department officials received several calls about a fire at the Holiday Motel & Suites at 1102 Pico Boulevard. By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze was already consuming one unit of the motel SMFD officials said.
"Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack on the blaze confining it to the unit of origin and preventing the spread to adjacent units," SMFD said in a statement.

Police officers found one person who managed to escape the building in a nearby alleyway with burn injuries and smoke inhalation, officials said. The person was treated on-site by paramedics and then transported to a local hospital.
The blaze was under firefighter control within 10 minutes of their arrival SMFD said.

Fire investigators surveyed the scene to determine the cause and the origin of the fire. Their investigation is still underway according to SMFD.
