SANTA MONICA, CA – Leaders of a manufacturing and distribution company donated $3 million to the Santa Monica-based Rand Corp. think tank to support research on China, Rand officials announced Monday. The gift from the Las Vegas-based Cyrus and Michael Tang Foundation will establish the Tang Chair in China Policy Studies, focusing on factors influencing the future of China, including education and health care.

"This significant gift will enable Rand to establish our first endowed chair with an international focus," according to Rand President/CEO Michael D. Rich. "We are very grateful for the continued generosity of the Tang family and look forward to furthering Rand's China-focused policy research and analysis capabilities."

According to Rand officials, the Cyrus Chung Ying Tang Foundation previously donated funds to Rand to create the Tang Institute for U.S.-China Relations. The newly created Tang Chair in China Policy Studies will be housed in the Tang Institute.
