SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica police made five arrests during an operation focused on livability and traffic safety in the city's beach areas, authorities said.Police on Saturday announced the results of the operation, which was conducted in the 1550 Beach Lot and Ocean Front Walk area.The operation included 30 traffic stops, six citations for vehicle violations, two driving under the influence investigations, two documented gang contacts and five arrests, according to police.The arrests were associated with outstanding warrants, parole violations, resisting or obstructing officers, narcotics possession, charges related to driving under the influence and municipal code violations, police said.

"You Say What!" Returns: 5 Award-Winning Storytellers, One Wild Afternoon

Some nights on the Santa Monica Pier just feel like summer. Thursday, May 21 is one of them, as Locals’ Night returns for its spring season finale from 3:30 to 10 p.m., bringing together live music, storytelling, classic cars, and community celebration across the Pier in one unforgettable evening—free and open to all ages. 
This special edition also marks the beginning of Pacific Park’s 30th anniversary celebration, with select moments woven into the evening, including a community “thank you” tribute on the Ferris wheel and the debut of Sweet Rose Creamery for guests.
“Locals’ Night is about community first—bringing people together to celebrate the stories, culture, and energy that make Santa Monica so special,” said Jim Harris, Executive Director and Historian of the Santa Monica Pier. “This finale captures everything we love about the Pier, with a few extra moments that make the night even more meaningful.”
