5 LA Men Cause $5K In Damage In Santa Monica, Police Say

A group of five men from Los Angeles was accused of uprooting trees, destroying holiday decor and damaging businesses in Santa Monica.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A group of five Los Angeles men were arrested on suspicion of vandalism after damaging trees and holiday decorations at Third Street Promenade, according to the Santa Monica Police Department Friday.

The suspects were accused of uprooting city-owned trees, decorations and fencing that belong to businesses in the shopping location near 3rd Street and Arizona Avenue about 12:04 a.m. Wednesday, Lt. Rudy Flores of the Santa Monica Police Department said.

Officers detained five men in their early 20s and investigated the promenade security cameras, which captured their alleged actions, Flores said. The suspects caused an estimated $15,000 in damages.

The following suspects were arrested and booked on suspicion of vandalism: Shane Thomas Barry, 21;· Zachary Lawrence, 21; William Ian Lawrence, 21; Aiden Metzner, 22; Mark Andrew Sapper, 21.
