SANTA MONICA, CA — A developer has filed preliminary plans to replace a commercial building near Downtown Santa Monica's E Line station with a new apartment complex.
Urbanize Los Angeles reports Kennedy Wilson is proposing an eight-story development at 700 Colorado Ave. featuring 133 apartments above a three-level underground parking garage with 137 spaces.
According to the report, the project would include a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Fifteen units would be reserved as affordable housing in exchange for density bonus incentives allowing a larger building than zoning would otherwise permit.
The proposal would replace an existing two-story commercial building. Urbanize reported the project is being designed by AC Martin and would include a rooftop amenity deck.
The application is in its early stages and was recently submitted to the city of Santa Monica's Community Development Department.
